Weary?

The holiday rush is in high swing.

The kids are out of school.

Parents are scrambling.

Do you sometimes feel torn in too many directions, with not enough time, energy, or money?

Maybe you can relate to what happened in our family this week.

We have a tradition to start the holiday season with a family feast celebrating the food from a different country each year. It’s not too hard because everyone pitches in. This year we picked Mexican. I texted my daughter-in-law, Jenny, who had bought some tamales for me while she was out shopping. I asked if there was anyone home to let us in so we could pick them up.

Now bear in mind that Jenny and her husband, Paul, have 8 kids, 6 still at home.

She texted back, “Yes. The kids are home. They are in the outside fridge.”

Cal and I had a great laugh at the image of the kids home from school and a mom so drained that putting them in time out in the extra fridge out in the garage sounded like a totally reasonable idea.

A moment later, I got this text, “The tamales…”

Hope you will take some time to laugh and play and enjoy being together. And remember that it doesn’t have to be perfect to be perfectly wonderful.

Happy Holidays,

Anne
